I’ve always enjoyed film, both as a way to explore new cultural ideas and as an art form. Watching movies and TV shows has always felt like one of the best ways to step into other worlds—sometimes strange, sometimes familiar, but always intriguing. My Plex server, affectionately called Markflix, is where I keep all my favorites and discover new ones. I share it with friends too—so if you’re interested in diving into some great (and random) stuff, reach out for access.
Here’s what’s currently grabbing my attention:
TV
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
I’m deep into Season 5 of DS9, and it’s honestly one of the best Star Trek series for me. The show’s take on politics, war, and spirituality makes it feel so ahead of its time. Plus, it’s hard not to love the character dynamics on the station.Adventure Time
This one never gets old. Between its quirky humor and surprisingly deep lore, I keep coming back to it. It’s a comfort show with a lot more depth than you’d expect from an animated series. The Wire
Just recently got into it, and I totally get why people say it’s one of the greatest shows ever made. The writing and character arcs are so real it almost feels like a documentary.
Movies
From cult classics to recent releases, here’s what I’ve been watching and rewatching:
Perfect Days (2023)
This Japanese film I just added to Markflix is getting a lot of buzz for its unique storytelling and visuals. It lives up to the hype.Donnie Darko
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen this, but it still holds up. The mix of sci-fi, horror, and coming-of-age drama is just iconic. It’s a must-watch if you’re into mind-bending plots.Chungking Express
Wong Kar-Wai’s style is one of a kind. This movie has such a hypnotic vibe, and I keep finding new things to appreciate each time I watch it.The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
This classic never gets old. Every shot is basically art, and Ennio Morricone’s soundtrack is unbeatable. It’s peak cinema.Galaxy Quest
For something a little lighter, Galaxy Quest is just pure fun. It’s one of those movies that gets better with age – clever, funny, and surprisingly heartfelt.
There’s plenty more in the library, too. Whether you’re into animated series, gripping dramas, or classic Westerns, Markflix has a bit of everything. Sometimes, I think the best part of having this setup is the mix of genres and styles – something for any mood.
